Historic Fountain ribbon-cutting event at Caldwell Train Depot Plaza!

Reviewed by Katherine Murphy / Caldwelllocal.org

The City of Caldwell is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Historic Fountain on June 28 at 4:00 p.m. The event will be held at the new location of the fountain, The Caldwell Train Depot Plaza at 701 Main Street. The 6-foot by 8-foot fountain was graciously donated by the National Humane Alliance and the Civic League of the Forward Club and is made of Maine granite, weighing five tons. Originally placed in front of the old City Hall, the fountain served as a historic monument until 1933 when it was moved to Memorial Park. In 1989, the fountain was put in storage until 1995 when it was restored and placed in Pioneer Park. Now, it has returned to its original spot along 7th Avenue. The event will feature entertainment by The Musettes and historical information displayed inside the train depot. Attendees will be treated to free hot dogs and refreshments. This project is a collaborative effort involving the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce, Caldwell Fire Department, Friends of the Depot, and Caldwell Housing Authority.
