San Francisco celebrates Juneteenth with Black-owned business spotlight.

The San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development highlights the Citywide Juneteenth parade and the Fillmore Freedom Celebration as events to celebrate and honor Juneteenth, supporting and recognizing the importance of this holiday. These events provide an opportunity to showcase and appreciate Black-owned businesses and communities in San Francisco.

Several Black-owned businesses in San Francisco are making a mark with their unique offerings:

1. Café Melange: Located in City Hall and opened in 2024, Café Melange is a collaboration between Radio Africa & Kitchen, Gumbo Social, Tallio’s Coffee & Tea, and Yvonne’s Southern Streets. These businesses, primarily located on Third Street in the Bayview, are supported by the SF Office of Small Business and the Real Estate Division.

2. Holy Stitch: This business operates as a one-stop shop, offering a variety of services and opportunities for people to buy, create, and learn. Through support from the OEWD's Vacant to Vibrant program, Holy Stitch has established its presence downtown.

3. Ocean Cyclery: Established in Ingleside since 1996, Ocean Cyclery remains a locally-owned bike shop serving the community. Owned by Jeff Taliaferro, who grew up in the area and developed a passion for cycling, Ocean Cyclery holds the distinction of being the only cycling shop on the City's Legacy Business Registry.
